Mrs. Mildred High was a special woman, a dear neighbor, & friend. She lived next door to my family in Ga., where I grew up. The High family was living next door when my parents moved in. That was nearly 50 yrs. ago! She passed away on Jan 1, 2009. She was 84 . She watched my brother & I grow up. When my mother had to go back to work full-time, Mrs. High was there for us. She watched us after school until my mom was home. She had an after school snack for us & made sure we did our homework! She was there for us many other times as well. Fast forward a few years. I'm engaged to Bryan. She helped us with some of our wedding stuff. She hosted a lovely party for me. She also made beautiful mints for my wedding reception! When we visited in Ga., She was there & she saw my children grow up as well! Luke would hollar across the fence to her, Hi, Mrs. High! She always loved children. Today was a special memory for me. This memory took place in our home at our dining room table. Our table is special because it's been in our family, husband's side, for at least 80 yrs. But this memory has to do with family people, not family things! Bryan, Luke, & I were having lunch after church as we have done many times! We were having a conversation about music - surprise, surprise! Luke randomly commented that I should listen to some 'Reggae' music for relaxation! Now I love music, but 'Reggae' is not my idea of relaxing music! Anyway, I mentioned my ocean waves CD & 'Sleep sound in Jesus' by Michael Card. 'Sleep sound in Jesus' is a lullaby CD that we listened to when the boys were small. Luke said listening to that CD was one of his earliest childhood memories!
